Pantun Desperado

Makan kuaci sambil main FB
sebab sudah tak tahu mana nak pergi.
Suami pulak takde di sini,
that's why I sangatlah lonely...

Washing machine rosak lagi,
so cuci baju guna tangan sendiri.
Cuaca pulak panas sekali
Mandi pun sampai 5 kali sehari.

My daily meal, roti or Indo mee,
My drinks, Shandy and susu Dutch Lady.
My companion are my DVDs,
My current hobby is sending CV.

Housemate and friends all so busy,
and me only try to LLB*.
Can someone please come and save me,
so that I don't go crazy or worst mati....

*for your info, LLB means Look Like Busy.

Daddy, how was I born?

A little boy goes to his father and asks 'Daddy, how was I born?'

The father answers, 'Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room and googled each other. There your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said:

You've got MALE!

Job Hunting...*sigh*

It is definitely NOT an easy task. Only the strong could withstand such challenge. Though to some people, whom I would like to call the "Mary Poppins Clan", just a snap and it's done. How I wish I was categorized under that group of people but unfortunately I'm not. *double sigh*

I've been performing this task for 2 months and it seems like FOREVER! I'm sitting at home most of my days, faced glued to my laptop screen, fingers stuck to the keypad and mouse not because I was busy FBing, but screening all the job hunting sites. I think I'm beginning to grow mushrooms on my head, moss on my skin and roots on my bum and the bottom of my feet.

Some of you may be wondering, why on earth did I leave my previous job without a new job in hand? It's complicated and it's not like I had a choice. No, I was not fired... I'm just not happy where I was anymore. My fire of passion was dying and I no longer have the strength to fan it nor the fuel to feed it. I was mentally and emotionally drained. On the day I tendered my resignation after 7 long years, someone scoffed at my ability to secure a job within a month's time. That actually made me even more definite about my decision. Though job hunting is difficult, I have no regrets for leaving my previous job.

As I described to my friend earlier, job hunting now is like buying a lottery. We placed our bets on all the available betting stations, Magnum 4D, Da Ma Cai and Sports Toto, hoping that if not all, at least one would bring us a little bit of hope. Funny isn't it?

One of the reason why I stayed so long in the previous company was because I really dislike the job hunting process: printing of numerous copy of my resume, filling up application forms each time I attend an interview, being asked almost the same questions over and over again, being asked to wait for their phone call, sitting at home hoping to receive a phone call bearing good news and multiple disappointments.

After attending a substantial amount of interviews, these are my findings:
  • I seriously do not understand why we need to fill up application forms (with limited writing space) when all the required information is clearly written and elaborated in the resume.
  • Most people find it SHOCKING when we leave a company after such a long period of employment without securing a new job first.
  • People these days have no courtesy to call when they promised to do so. I think it's only fair that we are informed whether or not we are successful.
My requirements are so simple:
  • Locations: Puchong will be the best (coz it's near to home) / Sunway / Subang / Shah Alam / PJ / Damansara / Bangsar / Bukit Jalil / Old Klang Road
  • 5-days work (Mon-Fri) / 1/2 day on Saturdays will be considered too.
  • Don't mind moderate amount of travelling.
  • Doesn't require me to work late all the time, Sundays and Public Holidays.
Not too much to ask for, right? What do you think? Well, the hunt goes on... I pray that the hunt will end real soon coz it's really tiring. My dear family and friends, please pray for me or I'll soon grow enough mushrooms to have a Mushroom Banquet.

No Arms, No Legs, No Worries

My brother-in-law shared this video on my Facebook Wall and it sort of got me thinking. Most of us tend to spend a lot of time complaining about how imperfect we look...too fat, too thin, not muscular enough, not tall enough, eyes too small...etc. This guy in the video is in a worst condition than most of us but instead of complaining, he's appreciating life and making the most out of it.

Always remember...
You are beautiful just the way you are.

2010 CNY Movie Marathon

We were suppose to start off the 2010 CNY Movie Marathon with All's Well Ends Well 2010 on Saturday night, CNY eve. We arrived at the cinema, collected the tickets I purchased online, bought our drinks and corn-in-cups and waited for cinema 6 to light up. The movie was scheduled to start at 9.20pm but 9.20pm came and cinema 6 still did not light up. I looked at the tickets again and this time I noticed the date printed on the tickets...15 February...Monday! SO EMBARRASSING!!! The tickets were not exchangeable so we finally decided to keep the ticket and bought tickets for Little Big Soldier which starts at 9.50pm. So, we started off our 2010 CNY Movie Marathon with Little Big Soldier.

Little Big Soldier
Language: Mandarin
Running Time: 1 hour 37 minutes
Director: Ding Sheng
Cast: Jackie Chan, Wang Lee Hom.

Synopsis: A foot soldier and a general from rival states became the sole survivors of a war. As they're pursued by the general's brother who would kill anyone for the throne, the soldier also struggled if he should betray the general for the ticket home.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 - It was ok. The usual Jackie Chan stunts.

Then we continued our Movie Marathon on Monday, 2nd Day of CNY.

The Wolfman
Language: English
Running Time: 1 hour 44 minutes
Director: Joe Johnston
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt.

Synopsis: When a man is called home to help find his missing brother, he finds a town terrified by a legendary werewolf, finally discovering that his father is the beast. After he's bitten and turned into a Wolfman himself, the son battles the father to the death in an effort to put an end to the curse.

My Rating: 1 out of 5 - It started off ok but became draggy and boring in the middle right up to the end. I even fell asleep during some of the scenes. I would say, don't waste time!

All's Well, Ends Well
Language: Cantonese
Running Time: 1 hour 33 minutes
Director: Raymond Wong Pak Ming
Cast: Angelababy, Louis Koo, Lynn Xiong, Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Ronald Cheng, Sandra Ng, Lam TzeChung.

Synopsis: Another all-star Lunar New Year comedy.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 - Very entertaining.

Then came Tuesday, 3rd Day of CNY.

Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief
Language: English

Running Time: 1 hour 59 minutes
Director: Chris Columbus
Cast: Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan, Steve Coogan, Rosario Dawson, Catherine Keener, Kevin McKidd, Joe Pantoliano, Uma Thurman, Ray Winstone.

Synopsis: Based on the first of a series of best selling novels, PERCY JACKSON & THE LIGHTNING THIEF is set in a modern world where the twelve gods of Mount Olympus (perched 600 stories above the planet on New York's landmark Empire State Building) are alive and are creating a new race of young mythological heroes who are demigods -- half mortal, half god. Percy, the teenage son of Poseidon, is suspected by Zeus of stealing his lightning bolt, the universe's most powerful weapon. To prove his innocence and avoid a devastating war among the gods, Percy embarks on a transcontinental odyssey to find the real thief. Along his journey, he confronts fierce enemies determined to stop him, and attempts to save his mother from the deadly clutches of another Greek god, Hades.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 - It's a GREAT start for the Percy Jackson movie series. It's a MUST watch for fantasy movie lovers. After watching the movie, I'm planning to buy the books to read the actual story in writing.

72 Tenants of Prosperity
Language: Cantonese
Running Time: 1 hour 38 minutes
Director: Eric Tsang
Cast: Eric Tsang, Jacky Cheung, Anita Yuen, Bosco Wong, Stepfy Tang, Linda Chung, Wong Cho Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Lam Ka Tung & many more.

Synopsis: In 1970s Hong Kong, rapacious landlords try to evict 72 tenants but sworn brothers Ha Kung (Eric Tsang) and Shek Kin (Jacky Cheung) help the group of 72 defeat the landlord (Lam Ka Tung) and landlady (Charmaine Sheh) and coincidentally rescue Pinky (Anita Yuen) from a planned forced marriage. When both sworn brothers fall for Pinky and propose to her, she flips a coin and Ha wins her hand in marriage.

The sworn brothers become sworn enemies and Shek’s hatred fuels intense rivalry against Ha in business dealings. Even after 40 years they continue to clash in Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mongkok, but when the street is hit by acid-attacks and rents raised to triple the cost, the 72 tenants unite and pledge to safeguard their home.

Against a background of fear and turmoil, with the old love triangle between Ha and Pinky and Shek still festering, the next generation of the Ha and Shek families embarks on their own heroic love affairs.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 - It's very entertaining. Laughing Out Loud (LOL) is guaranteed. Personally, it's even funnier than All's Well, Ends Well.

And that sort of ended the Movie Marathon. We were suppose to watch 2 more movies, 14 Blades & Valentine's Day, but there wasn't enough time.

My Absolut Collection

Currently in my collection (from left to right):
ABSOLUT TROPICS (Limited Edition)
Features the mix of mango, orange, lychee, melon & pineapple.

ABSOLUT 100
Absolut 100 is an intense, yet exceptionally smooth super premium vodka. Absolut 100 is made exclusively from natural ingredients, and unlike other vodkas, it doesn’t contain any added sugar. It’s distinct with spicy notes, yet luxuriously smooth, with a fresh and velvety texture.

ABSOLUT MASQUERADE (Limited Edition)
The new limited gift pack Absolut Masquerade is made from 3238 shiny red sequins, and comes with a zipper in the back. When you unzip the wrapping the label states: "In an Absolut world every night is a masquerade."

ABSOLUT ROCK (Limited Edition)
In an Absolut world, you're with the band. To pay tribute to rock-and-roll — ABSOLUT  ROCK is a limited edition bottle wrapped in a leather- and studs gift pack.

ABSOLUT DISCO (Limited Edition)
Taking its inspiration from the mirror ball, the classic dance symbol, the Absolut Disco gift pack is all about 'dancing, having fun and giving your own interpretation of disco.' The pack is made up of exactly 1,000 reflecting prisms, formed in the shape of a classic Absolut vodka bottle, and is opened by sliding it apart to reveal a bottle of Absolut vodka. The empty gift pack can then be used as a mirror ball by hanging it from its integrated loop.

ABSOLUT VODKA ORIGINAL
Absolut Vodka was first launched in New York in 1979. It soon became talk of the town, the US and eventually of the world. But the recipe behind the pure and natural taste of Absolut is actually older than 30 years. So is the 18th century medicine flask found in an antique store in Stockholm that gave inspiration to the iconic Absolut Vodka bottle.

ABSOLUT KURANT
The story behind the name Absolut Kurant is black currant, a typical Swedish berry from which the flavor is taken. Originally it was even supposed to be called ABSOLUT VINBÄR since the Swedish word for black currant is vinbär. Only thing was that the English pronunciation would have been wine bar.

A GREAT gift for me would be a bottle of Absolut (especially Limited Editions) to add into my collection.

Mashup of Top 25 Billboard Hits

One Thursday Evening...

Main thing I did today : Bought the perfect pair of shoes (so happen to match my hairband) for the coming Saturday's wedding dinner. Not too fancy nor too pricy.
Dinner location of the day :
Fullhouse Lifestyle Store and Cafe, Sunway Pyramid
Reference Link : Click Here To View Menu
My opinion : Ambience is great, food is yummy and not too expensive. Currently one of my favourite dining place.
Alfredo Spaghetti - Sliced chicken and shitake mushroom with rich cream.
Rosella Spaghetti - Spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic and chilli flakes with pan fried pacific prawns.
Honeydew Milk Shake
Peppermint + Chocolate topped with Chocolate Syrup

End of the evening : A trip to Chow Yang, SS2 PJ Night Market
Reason : To buy fried arrowhead chips & yummy dumplings

Me + my friend bought 5 containers last week from the same stall and came back to buy another 4 containers.
One box came with 6 pieces but... 1 eloped with my housemate by the time I came home, 1 went for a date with my hubby and 2 found their way into my stomach... only then I was reminded to snap a photo. So that explains the dynamic duo with a fork in place.

Yummy Singapore

My recent trip to Singapore was a very short one. There are only 2 main purpose: to bring my hubby home and to eat my favourite food there..."kam heong frog porridge". We arrived at 12 something in the morning but that did not stop us from driving all the way to Geylang, Lorong 19. Though there so many restaurants offering the same food, but only this one offered the taste I was craving for. Even when I'm in JB, I would definitely find time to drive into Singapore just to satisfy my craving.
Eminent Frog Porridge
I was too excited that I forgot to snap the photo BEFORE we began eating.
For the next day's brunch, my friend introduced to us her favourite Fish Head Noodle spot. It's located at Aliwal Street.
Not comparing with my favourite Fish Head Noodle in KL, this is yummy in its own way. Next stop is Orchard Road. It's not about the shopping that attracts me, it's the roadside ice-cream.
It has to be Walls or my younger sis would kill me.
It only cost me SGD1 for a big piece like that. Sometimes along this busy road, we get to see interesting way of advertising too.
After browsing through the new 313 shopping mall, once again we headed towards Geylang to try the Mee Sua.
For Singapore standard, they're not too bad. To end the day, we packed Soya Bean Curd with Oil Stick to go and my friend said this shop is the best in town.
On the last morning, we went to Ang Mo Kio to eat some yummy seafood fried noodle. No photos available coz when I remembered, the plates were empty already. Before we leave Singapore, my friend dropped me at Bugis Walk. I just need to buy the Fried Golden Needle Mushroom and Fried Sweet Potatoes from my favourite tempura stall here. Once again, no photos available due to the rush. Maybe next time.

Pinky & Peanut

Let me introduce you to Pinky & Peanut...
No, no... they're not mine, but I wish they were, they belong to my friend. They're called Sugar Gliders! My other friend and I went totally bonkers when we first met them.
Some Facts from the Wikipedia
The Sugar Glider is a tree dwelling creature, often living in groups of 10 to 15. They are active by night. The Sugar Glider is named for its preference for sweet foods and its ability to glide through the air, much like a flying squirrel. With plenty of attention (a minimum of 1-2 hours of daily human interaction), it bonds well to human companions. Sugar Gliders are known as "pocket pets" because of their size and natural sociability. Sugar Gliders are also known to be especially intelligent.
They sleep in a very soft and comfortable felt material pouch and a cover was specially sewn for the cage to keep them warm when they're in a air-conditioned room.
This cage is a temporary home for them while they are still babies. My friend is currently looking for a bigger cage to house both of them as they need more space to move and glide. I just can't wait to see them glide!
